Description

This session helps providers navigate through federal and state agency regulations, including the State Medical Board when prescribing opioids and non-opioids for injured worker use. The presenter discusses how to evaluate the necessity and appropriateness of prescribed drugs and assess the overuse or challenges to an injured worker's current treatment plan. He also discusses recent Ohio law changes for naloxone hydrochloride use to prevent overdose.

Learning Objectives: 1. Describe the benefits of using Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System; 2. Explain recent changes to Ohio law expanding access to naloxone hydrochloride for overdose prevention; 3. Define State Medical Board of Ohio’s regulations for prescribers of controlled substance; and 4. Identify areas where U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, local law enforcement and medical personnel can work together to curb prescription drug abuse.
