Description

Urine drug testing is an important component in the medical management of the injured worker. When conducted properly, drug testing enables physicians to determine if injured workers are taking the appropriate dose of the prescribed drug(s) or if they’re using other legal and/or illegal drugs. The presenter discusses how to make a science-based interpretation of the results.

Learning Objectives: 1. Describe the professional challenges presented in managing pain while minimizing diversion and abuse; 2. Identify strengths and weaknesses in drug testing procedures; and 3. Explain how to make science-based interpretations of results.
