Description:
The session addresses the ins and outs of an independent medical examination (IME) from the perspective of the reviewing physician. The presenter discusses the official standards that define a quality IME, according to the American Medical Association, the required qualifications of the examiner, methodology and procedures. He also provides a description of what happens at the time of the examination. The topic is relevant because the IME is a commonly used tool for management of a claim.

Explain how an IME can help claims managers assure their client that the case is being handled properly
