Description:
The Silica in Construction regulation requires the use of a competent person. This person is critical to accounting for the inherent variability on construction sites. He or she is also responsible for the successful implementation of Table 1 from the regulation. The presenter discusses the competent person's roles, responsibilities and knowledge base, per the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) definition and the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s Recommended Skills and Capabilities for a Silica Competent Person white paper.
