Description:
The presenter describes how medical simulation was used by Worthington Ohio Fire Department to improve their standard operating procedure for removing a bariatric victim of fire from a structure. He discusses the extrication and transport of bariatric patients in a manner that is safe for both the patient and the provider. Additionally, he discusses the physiologic changes of bariatric patients and how these changes can impact pre-hospital medical care. A demonstration of safe transport procedures is included.
