Description:

Musculoskeletal injuries account for approximately 40 percent of workplace injuries and often lead to excessive costs for employers. Many of these injuries occur in new employees and repeat offenders who often aren't physically capable of performing the jobs their employers place them in or have developed poor techniques performing job tasks. The presenter reviews several case studies of Fortune 500 companies that have seen great success using early engagement with individuals at high risk of transitioning to an injury. In addition, she discusses how to set up a comprehensive musculoskeletal first aid program for your facility.

Learning Objectives:
1. Explain the benefit of using skills for good human interaction in a first aid environment to calm stress and initiate healthy coping mechanisms; 2. Describe how to manage psychosocial risk factors and coping mechanisms at initial onset of pain; and 3. Discuss the importance of behavioral audits and behavior change coaching.
