Date: Thursday, March 10, 2016 Time: 8:15 AM - 9:15 AM Speakers: Martha Cristina Sus, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, Maxion Wheels Track: Safety Management Secondary Track: Social and Behavioral Session Type: Educational Session Skill Level: Intermediate Description: Behavioral based safety (BBS) as a concept has gained a lot of momentum in recent years even though it is not a new approach. A BBS program is a great approach for employers with mature systems who want to take safety to the next level. It also works for employers with emerging systems who want to create a safety discipline based on internal knowledge. Either way, the organizational environment in which you conceive the program and how you implement it may vary significantly when you need to reach different audiences with different approaches to safety. The session focuses on how to make your program standard and effective while encompassing the elements that make your work force unique. Learning Objectives: 1. Identify different approaches to BBS for your own population; 2. State key factors to include when planning your behavioral safety program in a multi-cultural environment; 3. Recognize safe behaviors applicable to your target population; and 4. List the steps to plan an effective safety program based on behavior when working in multi-cultural environments.
