Description:

For many people, the yearly physical at the doctor or the annual health screening at work brings a familiar recommendation: You need to exercise more. However, less than 25 percent of Americans report that they get regular exercise. This number has not changed significantly in more than a decade. It has become clear that for many people, we need to think of exercise differently — not necessarily sweating it out in the gym, but incorporating movement and activity as part of our everyday lives. In this session, you learn ways to first assess you own movement ability, and then to identify specific interventions that you can incorporate throughout the day.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe movement and how poor movement patterns can impact health;
  2. Explain how frequent, small doses of movement/activity can improve health;
  3. List three tests to gauge your own movement patterns; and
  4. Identify specific strategies and activities you can do at work to increase activity and improve movement patterns.
