Description:

By June 1, 2016, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) expects millions of HazCom-covered employers to be in full compliance with its final Globally Harmonized System (GHS) deadline. Manufacturer and distributor adoption delays and selective OSHA enforcement rules have created confusion in the supply chain. Additionally, enforcement statistics have shown that just complying with the basic tenants of HazCom standards remains challenging to many employers. Learn about these emerging GHS challenges and simple steps to ensuring compliance.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify basic tenets of HazCom and the past and upcoming GHS transition deadlines and corresponding obligations; 2. Recognize GHS adoption challenges throughout the chemical supply chain and understand OSHA’s recent compensatory inspector guidance for evaluating compliance during the HazCom/GHS transition; and 3. List best practices and actionable steps for managing safety data sheets, container labels, employee training, and chemical inventories to ensure compliance with the final deadline and beyond.
