Description:

On the worst day, employees and customers can be at risk from severe weather, hazardous materials or even terrorist events. This presentation features case studies from potential major disasters in a variety of work settings and involves participants in identifying their own hazards. In addition, the presenter offers strategies that worked to protect those present in a workplace setting. These include means for protecting employees, clients and customers with disabilities. Participants work through mitigation assessments designed to identify weaknesses in their settings, to determine initial priorities for investment and changes and to design a timeline for implementation.



Learning Objectives:
1. Describe mitigation planning as it relates to the workplace; 2. Identify area risks including direct and indirect impacts to workplaces along with mitigation planning; and 3. List strategies to protect a range of employees, clients and customers, including those with disabilities.
