Description:

This is a basic overview of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements when employees wear respirators. The speaker reviews the types of respirators commonly used in construction, and what employers must do if an employee wears one. The session focuses on the compliance issues when employees wear the dust masks (filtering face pieces) commonly used in construction today and covers OSHA requirements, selection and fit testing.



Learning Objectives:
1. List OSHA requirements for your respiratory protection program; 2. Describe how to select the proper type of respirator for a given type of respiratory hazard; 3. Explain when and how often employees are required to have a medical clearance when wearing a respirator; and 4. Recall which type of fit test is necessary for use of a given respirator.
