SMART is an acronym that represents a framework for creating effective goals. It stands for five qualities your goals should have. They should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. In this session, learn about the SMART method, one of the most popular and effective tools used today. SMART goals are measureable, and demonstrated by observable and or measurable improvement in instructor practice and student learning. Learning Objectives: 1. Explain how to use SMART goals for professional practice development; 2. Describe how SMART goals increase student achievement and focus on specific student needs; and 3. Discuss how SMART goals offer teacher practice based on self-reflection.
