Description:

The speaker presents recent research on the relationship between workplace traumatic injuries and workplace exposures to noise and neurotoxic chemicals. The presenter focuses on this relationship and discusses ways to measure and reduce noise exposures. She also discusses chemical exposures and their combination with noise exposure. The audience should be familiar with the multiple ways of recording noise exposures ((Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), etc.).



Learning Objectives:
1. Distinguish between the three ways to measure and record noise exposure (OSHA permissible exposure limit, OSHA action level, NIOSH); 2. Recognize that there may be a relationship between noise exposure and traumatic injury; 3. Explain the requirements of the OSHA noise standard; 4. Describe ways to reduce noise exposures.
