Description:
The role of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) on the opioid epidemic is overwhelming — and it’s time to address it. This epidemic should be considered a pain crisis, and much of it is due to work; MSDs account for 31% of all occupational injuries and illnesses in the United States. Evidence suggests that Ohio is experiencing this crisis. Hear how an ergonomics program, that identifies and reduces MSD risks, is an effective strategy to reduce the use and abuse of opioids.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify and understand the link between musculoskeletal disorders, due to poor ergonomics, and the opioid (or pain) crisis.
2. Recognize how an effective ergonomics program can prevent and reduce pain in the workplace as well as the use and abuse of opioids.
