It is a question of when, not if. This session reviews the key steps involved in a chemical spill. Attendees learn how to report, to whom, and all other legal requirements. Attendees will also hear from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) emergency response program regarding response authority, cleanup tactics and objectives, deployment postures, and how all response partners work together under the incident command structure. Real-world case studies showcase and augment the learning objectives. Learning Objectives: 1. Summarize Ohio EPA’s emergency response authority, deployment objectives, response postures, and potential roles within incident command when on scene. 2. Describe the role of the local emergency planning committee in spill notification and response. 3. Explain present case studies of local, state, and federal agencies working with private entities in spill response and mitigation. 4. List requirements for the 30-day spill follow-up report including who, what, when, where, etc…
