Description:
Many homes and businesses have natural gas or propane as a source of heat, water heating, or cooking. While natural gas is a safe reliable source of energy, it is important the community and first responders know what to do and know the chemical make-up of natural gas in the event of a gas leak. This demonstration covers damage prevention, sources of ignition, and the properties and chemical composition of natural gas and propane, including specific gravity and limits of flammability. Learn to "Stop, Leave, and Call" if you smell gas.

1. Recognize the odor of natural gas.
2. Explain what to do before any type of digging or excavation occurs.
3. Explain what to do if you smell gas.
4. Describe the difference between natural gas and propane.
