The second presentation focuses on the cancer risk of structural firefighters in Ohio. The data that is used for the analysis are from the state cancer registry, Ohio Cancer Incidence and Surveillance System (OCISS). Cancer risk among firefighters is compared to the general population in the state and to other first responder occupational groups. Learning Objectives: 1. Explain the respiratory hazards present at grain storage bins on the farm. 2. Describe the purpose of the simulator to replicate environmental conditions in terms of organic dust concentration and size distribution. 3. Describe the surveillance system used to collect cancer incidence information in Ohio and the United States. 4. Discuss cancer risk among structural firefighters relative to other population groups in Ohio. 5. Identify workplace hazards in structural firefighting that can contribute to increased cancer risk.
