Description:
Confusion and misinformation exist among electrical workers and safety professionals regarding electric arc flash protection because of the lack of arc knowledge and persistent myths. This session discusses topics that are designed to clarify what is real and what is not in arc properties: types of electric arcs and differences in thermal hazards; limitations of arc rating values leading to possible deficiency in protection; arc is electric discharge but not a detonation or explosion; lack of information for accidents statistics.
