Date: Wednesday, March 11, 2020 Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Speakers: Jason Broyles, Public Service Coordinator, Ohio Utilities Protection Service DBA OHIO811 Track: Public Utilities Secondary Track: Construction Session Type: Educational Session Skill Level: Basic Description: This session describes parts of all aspects of the "Call Before You Dig" process; ranging from an excavator’s responsibilities to a utility’s responsibilities, the marking standards, some best practices and discusses the enforcement process as defined by the Ohio Revised Code. Learning Objectives: 1. Identify when it is necessary to utilize the one call process in regards to excavations in Ohio. 2. Define and properly interpret the marks on the ground when looking at underground utility marks. 3. Describe the need for enforcement of the dig laws through use of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and Utilities Technology Council. 4. Explain and understand the objectives behind the one call process and how it plays a major role in safety of the utility, the worker and the state.
