Description:
The presentation covers the philosophy, guiding laws and principles used in developing Ohio’s medical fee schedules. Relevant Ohio statues, rules and policies are covered. Selected 2019 reimbursement updates and projected financial impacts are presented, along with a 2020 outlook. Attendees are educated on Medicare methodologies supporting Ohio’s approach. Understanding Ohio medical reimbursement protocols is important given the direct impact on the injured worker's access and quality of care.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify recent administrative codes and control policy changes impacting the provision and reimbursement of medical and vocational services.
2. Define the different fee schedules and how to appropriately bill for the variety of workers' compensation services.
3. Describe and understand the statutory enabling authority governing the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation's development and execution of Ohio's workers' compensation reimbursement methodologies.
4. Identify and apply appropriate administrative and statutory codes to medical services and medical management activities.
