The session highlights relevant Ohio statutes, rules and policies establishing and governing MCOs’ activities. Selected MCO contract performance requirements and expectations are also covered. Given the critical role MCOs have in resolving results of workplace injuries, a better understanding of how to use MCOs improves communication and greatly benefits employers and injured workers. Learning Objectives: 1. Define the roles between the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and MCOs, including the various complaint reporting processes. 2. Describe the relevant statutes, rules, policies, and contract terms governing MCOs' activities. 3. Define how to better utilize MCO medical management and return-to-work services. 4. Recognize the performance metrics used to evaluate MCOs.
