Description:

The decision to arm staff remains a legal action by a local board of education. Input to this important decision comes from a complete and thorough review of the district’s abilities to respond to potential threats. The presence of weapons in the schools may not be enough to deter random acts of violence. In this session, learn how to limit the ability of uninvited guests to gain access to a building or to gain access to students once inside by analyzing your building’s vulnerabilities and updating your school safety plan. Additionally, learn more about the legality of firearms in schools and available training.
