Speaker: Chadwick Smith, Executive Director, Ohio Air Quality Development Authority
Chad Smith is the Executive Director of the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority (OAQDA) and its Clean Air Resource Center. Appointed in 2013, he oversees the management of approximately $2.6 billion in outstanding bond issues as well as the Authority’s research and special project programs. The role of the OAQDA is to provide for the conservation of air as a natural resource of the state to prevent or abate the pollution of the air, to provide for the comfort, health, safety and general welfare of all citizens of the state and to assist in the financing of air quality facilities for industry, commerce, and research. Before his role at OAQDA, Mr. Smith worked for the Ohio Development Services Agency (previously Ohio Department of Development) in a number of roles, most recently as Director of the State Energy Office and Director of the Ohio Coal Development Office. Smith also previously worked in the utility industry in Japan on international renewable energy projects/power investment deals following 8 years of service as a meteorologist/oceanographer in the US Navy. Smith received a BA from The Ohio State University, a MA from the International University of Japan and an Executive MBA from The Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business.
