Gary has spent over 25 years in Environmental, Health and Safety and has worked with a very diverse group of businesses across North America. Prior to starting ISTS he was Safety Manager for Borden Chemical, Inc. Here he had oversight responsibilities for emergency response for 26 sites in North American. He also had managerial responsibility for a staff of Safety Professionals. Prior to Borden, he worked as an EHS Engineer for the General Electric Company. There he managed over 2000 employees’ health and safety needs. Gary has served over 30 years in the Fire Service both as a career and volunteer holding the rank of Fire Chief for 8 years. Mr. Yurt has an AA in Fire Administration, a BS and MS in Occupational Health and Safety. His safety credentials include being a board certified EHS auditor, an OSHA Outreach Trainer, Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, and a Professional Instructor for the American Safety and Health Institute. Gary is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Program. He has also achieved the designation of Chief Fire Officer (CFO) from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International. He also a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS). In 2010 Gary provided short term project expertise to the BP Oil Deep water Horizon Incident in the Gulf of Mexico.
