As a clinical pharmacist liaison, Tania Smiley assists the Optum account management team by overseeing clinical programs for our clients. Tania reviews medication trends and evaluates the use of medications used in the workers’ compensation industry, recommending interventions where necessary. With more than 10 years of experience in the ever-evolving workers’ compensation setting, she has also assisted in the development and establishment of several clinical programs to improve the medication therapy of injured workers. Tania has significant experience evaluating complex pharmacotherapeutic pain management issues and is experienced in performing therapeutic reviews and interventions. Additionally, Tania participates in educational activities for claims professionals, case managers and nurses. Prior to joining Optum, Tania served as a clinician specializing in pain management, chemotherapy, intravenous nutrition support, and antibiotic therapy in the home care setting. Tania Smiley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from The Ohio State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in both chemistry and biology from Otterbein University. She is licensed as a registered pharmacist in the states of Ohio, Arizona, and Nebraska.
