Speaker: Tim Ward, President and Co-Founder, North High Brewing
Ward spent the first eight years of his professional career as an engineer for Honda of America Manufacturing after receiving his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Youngstown State University in 2006. During his tenure at Honda, he was the team lead responsible for managing a new model project from design through development and testing. After four years of working at Honda, Ward started to desire more from his professional career. To become a well-rounded professional, he enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of business. He specialized in operations, strategy, and entrepreneurship and graduated in March of 2012. It was during his time at OSU when Tim befriended classmate Gavin Meyers. After partnering on several group projects, the two began talking about starting their own business. In May of 2011, during an entrepreneurial event, the idea of what would become North High Brewing was born. Since starting North High Brewing five years ago, Ward has done everything from maintenance, to brewing, to accounting. Ward and Meyers took a business from initial concept to launch. They created business plans necessary to present to investors and financial institutions to become funded, executed the business strategy needed to keep the company successful in the competitive craft beer market and hired the qualified individuals who shared the same passion and vision. Ward actively spends most of his time at the brewery overseeing daily brewery operations, maintaining a daily production schedule to meet customer demand and upholding high quality standards of product to exceed consumer expectations. He also handles all financial and human resources tasks. In 2014, Ward was elected to serve on the board of the Ohio Craft Brewers Association as treasurer.
