Mary is a Senior Engineer and Senior Instructor for Con Edison. She develops and teaches courses for engineers, technicians, mechanics, operators and steam customers. The courses include topics on power plant hazards, chemical safety, environmental testing and compliance, metallurgy, steam system overview, operation of the steam system, meter installation and repair, valve maintenance, heat transfer, boiler chemistry, chemical instrumentation, and environmental protection. She previously led the Con Edison Steam Distribution Engineering Equipment Group which specified valves, expansion joints and other major pieces of equipment used in the Steam Distribution System and performed failure analyses on these same pieces of equipment. Mary led project teams that developed the composite manhole cover used on steam manholes and reinsulated existing buried steam mains using insulation formed by in-situ reaction of materials that are pumped into existing buried structures. Mary has also worked as a chemical engineer in Con Edison’s Technical Services Lab, where she was a Lubrication Engineer, Power Plant Chemical Specialist, and Steam Purity Program Manager. Mary has a B.E. degree in Chemical Engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and a M.S. degree in Organizational Leadership from Mercy College. Mary is a Council Member in the Cooper Union Alumni Association and the current Chair of the NY Metro American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
