Smith has more than 25 years of management experience in manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, and other industries. He has been a safety consultant for more than 10 years. Smith has worked with companies in the petrochemical, construction, biomedical, pulp and paper, chemical manufacturing, aerospace, power generation, and distribution industries. Clients include Procter and Gamble, Westlake Chemicals, Domtar, BASF, Nucor Steel, and Harris Rebar. Smith has worked as senior safety consultant with SafeStart and presents more than 20 public workshop events annually for the company. He also speaks on topics such as using advanced awareness techniques to combat distracted driving, managing an effective workers’ compensation program, understanding the basics of safety and health programs, and improving communication in training. In 2017, he received the Board of Certified Safety Professionals safety management specialist designation. He has also completed the National Safety Council’s advanced safety certificate program. Smith is a University of Alabama Occupational Safety and Health Administration Training Institute Education Center trainer and holds a dual certification from Linkage Inc. of leadership and organizational development programs.
