Dr. Deborah B. Moore, resident of Plain City, Ohio, was an Assistant Commissioner with the Ohio High School Athletic Association from 1989-2008 and Associate Commissioner for Eligibility since 2008. Dr. Moore received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Kent State University. Following graduation she taught high school health and physical education and coached gymnastics, swimming and diving, track and field and volleyball at Buckeye Valley High School in Delaware, Ohio. Debbie holds the Masters of Arts and the Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Physical Education Teacher Education from The Ohio State University and has done post-doctoral work in exercise science. She has held faculty appointments at Furman University in South Carolina, Kent State University and Wilmington College of Ohio where she also served as the head volleyball coach. Dr. Moore has had experience in the teaching of sport and exercise physiology and has published numerous articles in both professional and lay journals. Her responsibilities with the OHSAA include overseeing the compliance and eligibility functions of the Association and administration of the sports of volleyball, field hockey, gymnastics, and swimming and diving. She is also responsible for coordinating the healthy lifestyles and sports medicine programs for the OHSAA. She has served the National Federation of State High School Associations as a presenter at many national meetings. She is the former Chair of the Citizenship Committee and the Volleyball Rules Committee and is a former member of the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee and the Coaching Education Committee. She is an avid runner and triathlete and enjoys both snow and water skiing.
