Grote Adams is a board-certified industrial hygienist, board-certified safety professional, and certified professional environmental auditor in health and safety with 40 years of experience. She has comprehensive environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene experience. Grote Adams has conducted audits, trained management and environmental safety and health professionals, coached environmental safety and health staff, and mentored other women business owners. Her recent audit experience includes contractors, engineering consulting firms, manufacturers, and distribution centers. The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) recognized her in 2017 with the Distinguished Fellow Award. Grote Adams was a finalist for the 2015 National Association of Woman Business Owners' Columbus Visionary Awards. In 2007, she was the proud recipient of the Builders Exchange Meg DeWerth Industry Impact Safety Award. In 2005, Grote Adams was one of five Change Makers at Columbus Business First Women in Business Supplement. She received the Central Ohio local section of the AIHA Industrial Hygiene Award of Excellence in 2003 and the Outstanding Industrial Hygiene Award in 1992. Grote Adams has been the president of Safex since 1992. Prior to Safex, she worked with Abbott/Ross Laboratories, ChemLawn Services Corp., and with the Ohio Occupational Safety and Health Administration-Consultation Program. Grote Adams was an adjunct professor at Columbus State Community College from 2008-2010. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in life science from Otterbein University and a Master of Science degree in environmental health and occupational safety from the University of Cincinnati.
