Speaker: Chris Heminger, Owner, Total Compliance
Heminger worked for over 30 years of manufacturing and environmental experience. Heminger spent 23 years with Honda of America and was the Senior Staff Engineer and Environmental and Facilities Manager for Honda’s 4 manufacturing plants in Ohio. During his career at Honda, he developed led the effort to develop an Environmental Management System (EMS) certified to ISO 14001 at the four Honda plants in Ohio. This included a comprehensive environmental compliance management system; an environmental audit program for Honda’s North American manufacturing plants and Honda Suppliers in North America and an audit program for waste Treatment Storage and Disposal facilities used by Honda. Heminger was responsible for all aspects of environmental compliance and ISO 14001 at Honda’s 4 manufacturing plants in Ohio and also assisted Honda’s other North American Plants and Honda suppliers with environmental compliance and ISO 14001 implementation. Several projects included complex major source air permit issues (NSR, PSD, BACT, MACT, CAM etc.), stormwater issues in sensitive watersheds, wastewater treatment problems, DOT Hazardous Materials, HAZWOPER Emergency Response teams and complex hazardous waste issues. He was also instrumental in working with the Ohio Senate and House in supporting the passage of Senate Bill 265 which improved the effectiveness of air permitting and Ohio EPA’s use of Best Available Technology. Heminger was also responsible for facilities management of Honda’s 8,000 plus acres near Marysville Ohio which included energy and land management. These responsibilities included electricity and natural gas procurement, energy delivery, and maintenance of Honda’s utility infrastructure within the Ohio Honda plants and several suppliers throughout Ohio. In 2005 Heminger started his own company called Total Compliance.
