Tom Slavin, President of Slavin OSH Group brings over 30 years experience in managing occupational safety and health, retiring as Global Safety and Health Director for Navistar, Inc. Tom chairs the ASTM E34 Occupational Safety and Health Committee and the American Foundry Society (AFS) 10Q Safety and Health Committee and is past board chair of the Institute for Safety and Health Management. He currently serves on the ANSI Z10 committee, the US TAGs to the ISO 45001 safety and health and ISO 31000 risk management standards. He is also on the NIOSH National Occupational Research Agenda manufacturing sector team. He is a recipient of the AFS Childress-Loebler lifetime achievement award, the AFS Keating Founders Freedom Award, and the ASTM award of merit. Tom has authored or co-authored more than 20 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters on a variety of topics including sustainability, combustible dust, fine particles, overtime, diesel health, human capital, ergonomics, silica, audits and workplace violence. He has delivered more than 100 lectures and presentations to university and national audiences. Tom has a BS in Zoology from University of Illinois, an MS in Occupational and Environmental Health from Wayne State University, and an MBA from University of Chicago. He is a certified safety professional (CSP), certified industrial hygienist (CIH), certified safety and health manager (CSHM) and certified professional environmental auditor (CPEA).
