Speaker: Cheryl Altizer, Director of Claims Compliance, CompOne MCO
Altizer received her undergraduate degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and master’s degree from Ohio University. She developed industrial injury prevention and wellness programs, and worked in corporate fitness centers before becoming an industrial therapist. She worked for 15 years in outpatient physical therapy. As an industrial therapist, Altizer worked with the workers’ compensation patients to prepare them physically to return to work and performed post-offer physical ability testing. She then transitioned to worker’s compensation insurance, obtaining her license as a workers’ compensation claims adjuster in several states while working for National Interstate Insurance Co. She joined CompOne in September 2008, working as a claim specialist. Altizer developed the industrial claim summaries for employers that are used in claims staffing. She is CompOne’s director of claims compliance. She works as needed as a workers’ compensation consultant assisting in the customization of an employer’s protocol for their fit for duty/essential function testing, and post-offer physicals. The goal of this testing is for the employer to avoid hiring their next workers’ compensation claim.
