Speaker: Stephen McCormick , division administrator, USDOT / Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
McCormick’s public safety career with the U.S. Department of Transportation / Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) goes back to 2001 when he began as a safety investigator in Ohio. In the intervening years, he has held diverse roles within FMCSA, including HazMat specialist and federal program manager, responsible for the administration and oversight of FMCSA’s compliance investigation and enforcement activities in Ohio. He became the Hawaii Division Administrator in May of 2015 and led safety programs encompassing Hawaii and the Pacific Territories until returning to Ohio in late 2018 as the Ohio division administrator. McCormick’s investigation and enforcement experience has made him a dedicated advocate of public safety. McCormick holds a bachelor’s in administration of justice from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
