Speaker: Gwynne Rife, Ph.D. , Chair of Advanced Professional Programs in the College of Education, University of Findlay
Dr. Rife, professor of biological sciences and education at the University of Findlay, continuously incorporates her expertise in marine science to teach and promote ocean literacy, and stimulate interest in STEM education. Since 1991, Dr. Rife has taught biology, ecology, ocean science, and research methodology to both undergraduate students and teachers in graduate professional development classes. In 2010, she began overseeing Findlay’s Master of Education program and helped develop an online doctoral program. She has also designed, conducted, and studied the effectiveness of authentic research experiences for students and teachers. The author of 12 publications and recipient of 17 grants, her current research involves increasing the effectiveness of K-12 STEM education through enhanced teacher training. She completed her Bachelor of Science at Bowling Green State University and her Master of Science in marine science at the University of Southern Mississippi. Returning to Ohio, she earned her Ph.D. in biology at Bowling Green State University in 1991.
