Speaker: Carolina Thatcher, Cert. Diversity Professional, Director of Inclusion and Diversity, Bureau of Workers' Compensation
A native of Chile, Thatcher arrived in the United States after working six years as a psychologist in both clinical and social programs. After receiving a master’s in public administration from Wright State University, she worked in the non-profit sector, developing and evaluating programs in underserved communities. She received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Liberal Arts at Wright State University in 2008 for the impact of her work. Her state career began as a diversity and inclusion professional for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. She led initiatives on employee engagement, diversity awareness, poverty issues, and led training workshops throughout the state. She later became the first director of inclusion and diversity at the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. She leads the implementation of a strategic plan focused on employee engagement, effective recruitment strategies, education, and cultural competence in service delivery. Thatcher is recognized as a leader in the diversity and inclusion space among state professionals in Ohio.
