Speaker: Michael Sourek, Staff Counsel, Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation
Mike is a 24 year employee of the Ohio BWC. He started with the agency in 1991 as a Claims Representative. In 1994, he was promoted into the Special Investigations Department, where he served as a Fraud Analyst and Interim Special Agent in Charge. In 2004, Mike was again promoted to Staff Counsel of the Mansfield Service Office, where he currently works. During 2011-2012, Mike also served as the Interim Service Office Manager for this service office and was recognized as BWC's Employee of the Month in December 2012. Mike has four college degrees: Bachelor of Science, Physics, John Carroll University, 1989; Master of Science, Mathematics, Cleveland State University, 1991, Master of Science in Management Science, Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, 1996; and Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2002. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 2002. Mike is single and resides in Bellville, Ohio where he serves as the finance council co-chair of his church and president of his condominium association. He also has a small law practice concerning non-workers' compensation matters.
