Elswick, CIH, CSP, CHMM, CET, is currently an assistant professor in the environmental, safety, and occupational health (ESOH) department at The University of Findlay. He has supported oversight of the implementation of company HESS policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and practices in government operations, chemical industry, high-speed manufacturing, and food industry. Elswick’s military service encompassed 32 years. As a medical service corps officer (surface warfare), he was the industrial hygiene and hazardous material compliance officer, He was the preventative medicine/environmental health officer with 4th Civil Affairs Group (CAG), Detachment #2 in Al Asad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom II. Previous assignments included the Forward Deployed Preventative Medicine Unit (Team 8) as the industrial hygiene officer/chemical specialist. He has attended Dr. Vincent T. Covello’s workshop on environmental risk communication and public dialogue. He currently holds a certificate as a hazardous material specialist and is a certified HAZMAT technician in accordance with National Professional Qualification Standards (NPQS) NFPA 472. The American Board of Industrial Hygiene in comprehensive practice of Industrial Hygiene (Certification Number 11349 CP) also designated him. Elswick has earned the certified environmental trainer designation with a specialization in management and transportation of hazardous material and waste, and is certified by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management as a certified hazardous material manager. The Board of Certified Safety Professionals designated him as a certified safety professional. Elswick earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Marshall University, his Master of Science in Environmental Science at Marshall University Graduate College, and Masters of Arts in Education from The University of Findlay.
